Ang Nam Ngum Resevoir, Laos

After the manic Vang Vieng, we wanted a few days somewhere less hectic. The lake is in fact a resevoir, created by a controversial dam on a major tributary of the Mekong (see roughguides). We were recommended to stay at the Nirvana Eco Lodge which is French owned. After the bustle of VV, the lake was the complete opposite (apart from one other set of guests, the place was deserted).
